Migraine is more than headache. It can be said that it is repetitive headache which turns from moderate to severe. It is more than a simple headache that affects to one half of the head. Its symptoms include – distraction from sound, light, smells, vomiting, bad vision, and feeling of illness. In general migraine attacks last from 4 to 72 hours. Commonly migraine falls into two categories. (1) Migraine with Aura (2) Migraine without Aura. Migraine is different from headache. If you are a migraine patient then it doesn’t mean that you will not get attack of other types of headache. Some of the reasons of migraine are alcohol, stress, lack of food, half sleep, environmental changes and hormonal changes in women.
Use Hot Compresses– Use this idea of applying hot compress on your paining area at the time of migraine attack as it may give you relief within few hours. This is a natural therapy and must be applied by the migraine patient. It is advised that hot compresses must not be used along with the balms and creams.
Cold Compresses– Use of cold compresses is more effective than the use of hot compresses provided that it is applied just after the migraine attack without any delay. You can use an ice cube or ice pack over the area which is affected. It is advised to use either hot compresses or cold compresses. As because use of both the practice will be proved ineffective.
Dehydration– If the reason of migraine is dehydration then make a habit of drinking lots of water. Drink a glass of water in the very early morning it will minimize the chances of migraine attack. The migraine patients should avoid aerated drinks and beverages as all these leads to dehydration hence increases the chances of headache and migraine.
Quick Remedy– If you are getting repetitive attack of migraine then don’t ignore it at all. Initial remedy can save you from its dangerous effect. So treat the pain initially so that the probability of reversing its symptoms will be high.
Healthy Sleep– If you want to get rid of migraine attack then make a habit of taking healthy sleep. Healthy sleep implies at least eight hours sleep at night. You make a fixed time table for your bed time and follow it. The timing should not be changed frequently. Otherwise it will not work effectively. You can take a power nap in the day time but its timing should not be of more than half n hour. As because it will reduce the chances of your night sleep.
Use Cinnamon– Cinnamon can be used as a home based natural remedy to get rid of migraine pain. First make a thick paste by grinding cinnamon stick into fine powder with the use of little water. Use this paste on forehead. Now leave it for 30 minutes. After that wash it with lukewarm water. With the healing and antioxidant properties, cinnamon works fast on migraine.
Apply Peppermint– Peppermint carries soothing and calming properties. It works instantly on migraine pain. You can inhale the steam of peppermint to get rid of nausea, vomiting and headache. Peppermint oil can be used as massage oil for the massage of the head, back of the head and temple for instant result.
Lavender Oil– Lavender oil works instantly on migraine pain with its healing and soothing properties. Apply 2 to 4 drops of lavender oil in hot water and inhale it. you may also use lavender oil externally on your forehead and temples.
Eat Apple– If you are a patient of migraine then make a habit of eating an apple or at least a slice of apple in the early morning on an empty stomach. You can also inhale the steam of apple in a hot water.
